Hans was born and spent his early years in Hong Kong before High School in Switzerland. With the aid of prestigious scholarships, he studied architecture in Switzerland and at the University of Southern California where he graduated top of class.

His formative career was spent with the internationally renowned architect Sir Norman Foster, latterly as a Project Director. Over a period of eight years, he was involved with and responsible for a number of world-class buildings including Century Tower in Tokyo, Japan and the Commerzbank Headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. Hans also led teams in high profile design competitions.

Hans founded HB Design in Hong Kong in 1995 following his return to Asia. He re-located the office to Singapore in 1998 and regional offices were established in Phuket in 2003 and in Bangkok in 2007.

Hans has worked on a wide variety of award and prize-winning projects and serves as an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the National University of Singapore, where he teaches design to senior year students. He has been a keynote speaker at industry conferences and had numerous articles published.

Hans is a Registered Architect in Singapore and provides the design lead for HB Design



Born and brought up in the Netherlands, Jan comes from a family of site architects and was exposed to construction from an early age. He studied carpentry, masonry and other trades, qualified as an Architectural Technician and subsequently as a Project Manager from the Higher Technical Institute in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2002.

Jan’s formative career was spent working for architectural practices in his native Netherlands where he acquired extensive experience working primarily in residential, commercial, mixed-use and healthcare sectors. His initial experience of the Asia workplace was gained working for a Dutch firm in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Jan joined HB Design in Bangkok in 2007 and was appointed Managing Director in 2012. Responsible for construction documentation, contracts and HR functions, Jan has been instrumental in the implementation of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and sophisticated office management systems

Jan provides the direction and lead for our offices in Thailand.

Dennis Stanfill


Dennis was born  in New York and brought up in Los Angeles and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.

A specialist in 3d Visualization he co-founded Wave Digital Imaging Ltd which produced high end visualization for government infrastructure projects in Hong Kong and later founded f32 Digital in the same field. With more than 20 years of working experience with Hans Brouwer, Dennis is the longest standing member of HB Design.

He is based in Phuket, Thailand and is involved in the visualization side of HB Design’s business as well as contracts and overseeing administration.



Born and brought up in Mumbai, Chaitanya studied architecture at Sir J J College of Architecture graduating in 2001 and served as a visiting lecturer at the University between 2004 and 2006.

His formative career was spent designing luxury homes for top industrialist families in Delhi and Mumbai, before commencing practice in his own right as Studio Kinesis in 2003. Chaitanya worked for Design Development Group (DDG) in Baltimore, USA from 2006, latterly as an Associate and was involved in and led award winning retail and mixed-use projects in China, South Africa and Turkey.

Chaitanya joined HB Design in 2011 where he directs teams delivering large, complex, residential and commercial developments in India and indulges his passion for green, sustainable design.

Chaitanya is a Registered Architect in India.



Born and brought up in Thailand, June qualified with first class honours from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok in 2002. She was awarded the 2005 Australia-Asia scholarship to complete her Master’s Degree in Planning and Design from the University of Melbourne in 2005.

June’s formative career was spent focusing on hospitality and resort developments, coupled with experience of retail, education and residential sectors. Since 2008, June has worked in both the Singapore and Bangkok HB Design studios directing large scale, award winning residential and commercial developments in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

June is a Registered Architect in Thailand and has taught at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.



A native of Rome, Italy, Chiara studied architecture at the University of Roma Tre and graduated top of class in 2001. Following her graduation she served the University as Assistant Professor directing a course in collaboration with Professor Diego Maestri.

Chiara’s formative career was spent in Europe and the United States before she re-located her family to Singapore in 2005.

She initially worked on the award winning Pinnacles at Duxton high-rise, public housing development before joining HB Design in 2006. During her time at HB Design Chiara has worked on a number of high quality projects and competitions throughout South East Asia and India.

Chiara is a Registered Architect in Italy and the United Kingdom and is responsible for managing teams in the design and realisation of projects and acts as Client interface.



Born and brought up in Thailand, Pinn graduated with second class honours from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) in Bangkok in 2007.

Her formative career was spent working on a wide variety of projects in India, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Maldives, Singapore and Thailand.

Since 2009, Pinn has worked in both the Singapore and Bangkok HB Design studios, engaged in a number of high quality large scale, residential and commercial developments in Singapore, Thailand and India.

Pinn is a Registered Architect in Thailand



Mohandass was born and brought up in India. He finished his Bachelor degree in Architecture in 2003 at SAP, Chennai, where he was one of the toppers in his batch. His passion for architecture was from his school days and he is also an artist.

His initial years of experience were spent in designing Luxury houses, corporate interiors, Office buildings and commercial development in Bangalore.

Later he moved to Singapore in 2007 to join WOW architects, where he worked in various prestigious projects in Malaysia, Dubai and India .His notable project also include Mandala house which is an award winning Residential project. He gained his hands on experience in designing, detailing and visualisation.

Mohandass joined HB Design in May 2011 and he handles design in major projects which include Residential, commercial and mixed use development. He works for competitions and gives his inputs to win over projects. His Asset include designing, free hand sketching, detailing and visualization ensembles his role as a Design Associate in the office.

Mohandass is a registered architect in India.
